The Turkmenistan American University in Central Asia Scholar Program (TASP) provides outstanding Turkmen students with ten years of secondary education with scholarships to pursue a 4-year undergraduate degree at AUCA in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in the following fields of study:

??? Business Administration
??? Cultural Anthropology
??? Economics
??? European Studies
??? International Comparative Politics
??? Journalism
??? Law
??? Psychology
??? Sociology
??? Software Engineering (IT)
TASP is fully funded by the US State Department through the United States Embassy in Ashgabat, and administered by American Councils for International Education (ACCELS) in Turkmenistan.
Selection Process
The competition is merit-based. The following factors will be taken in consideration by the independent committee in Bishkek: academic excellence, knowledge of English language, interest in chosen field of study, and AUCA requirements for academic standards.
April 2007
Application process: candidates must submit an application to the ACCELS office no later than April 30. Applicants from the regions may submit application forms at the American Corner in their region.
May 2007
Applicants will be required to take all AUCA department exams (as appropriate) and a TOEFL English language test. All tests will be conducted in Ashgabat.
Late May 2007
Semifinalist selection: applications and test scores will be submitted to an independent committee in Bishkek, who will select semifinalists based on the following factors: academic history, English language abilities, understanding of field of study, leadership potential, and compatibility with AUCA admissions standards.
June 2007
Semi-finalists will be invited to interview with American Councils representatives. All interviews will be conducted in Ashgabat.
July 2007
Finalists will be selected by an independent committee in Bishkek. Finalists will be informed of their status by telephone and official letters.
