FLEX GLOBAL PROGRAM FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Program Overview:

The FLEX Global program is a competitive, merit-based scholarship program funded and administered by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The program provides competitively selected secondary school students from Turkmenistan with the opportunity to spend an academic year in the United States living with a volunteer host family, attending a U.S. high school, participating in community activities, and developing leadership skills. Building on the legacy of the Future Leaders Exchange (FLEX) program and the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study (YES) program, FLEX Global places a special emphasis on entrepreneurship, technology and STEM, leadership development, and American excellence. Participants return to their home countries with enhanced knowledge, skills, and cross-cultural understanding, enabling them to contribute to their communities and build lasting connections with the United States. Supported by volunteer host families, local schools, and communities across the United States, FLEX Global continues a tradition of fostering mutual understanding and preparing young people to make positive contributions in their communities.

Who organizes the program?

FLEX Global is a program of the U.S. Department of State, implemented by American Councils for International Education in partnership with AFS, Amideast, and iEARN, who conduct recruitment, selection, orientation, and travel arrangements for FLEX Global.
