Sponsored by the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, C5+O.N.E. is a regional English language training initiative that targets entry- and mid-level young professionals from the public, private, and civil society sectors in Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan. While previous program cycles focused on themes such as energy and the environment, the focus of the current cycle is English for the Economy as an overarching theme, engaging participants across a range of related sectors.
The program is specifically tailored to professionals working in these priority areas, enhancing their capacity for regional and global engagement. Through this initiative, we are not just teaching a language; we are building bridges that connect nations and pave the way for a more interconnected and collaborative future.
American Councils delivers a standardized regional English language training program, providing participants with three trimesters of language programming. Courses are focused on practical professional English language development and incorporate strategies designed to promote English acquisition by young professionals to improve listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills needed in their workplaces.
Through a robust series of engagements, including national workshops and regional workshops over the course of the project, C5+O.N.E. will strengthen professional networks, enhance regional connectivity, and increase access to a diversity of information and opportunities for participants.
