Alumni Spotlight: Great Student Ambassador

Meet
Bahar Mammetgurbanova – EducationUSA Turkmenistan cohort alumna and American Corner volunteer, who is currently on FLEX program, studying in 12th grade at Stanley-Boyd high school, Wisconsin. Bahar was spotlighted at the Stanley-Boyd high school official page for her successful academic studies and for being a great ambassador of her home country – Turkmenistan. She has done a remarkable job studying at the US high school, being an active Stanley-Boyd Basketball JV player, and representing her country through over 10 cultural events that had more than 200 visitors in attendance. She is finishing her high school program in May 21, 2020 and is very excited for a new journey when returning back home.

Bahar now actively attends EducationUSA webinars and virtual information sessions to become a strong applicant at a US college or university for Fall 2021. Well done and way to go Bahar!

Research Assistantship Success

Bagul Mammedova, EducationUSA Opportunity Funds alumna from Turkmenistan is currently a freshman Honors student at Jamestown Community College (SUNY) majoring in Global Studies. As the result, Jamestown Community College became the community college to be granted this fellowship in New York! The research examined ten small cities of the state and the conditions that led to fiscal stress in 2018. Bagul’s role was to attend interviews with city mayors and work on the city budgets.
