On June 30, American Councils in Turkmenistan celebrated the 30th Anniversary of the FLEX program to highlight program’s success and impact on its alumni. The event was divided into two parts, starting with a professional development workshop led by a global educator and trainer, Simon Norton focused on “Aligning Work and Life Choices with Your Purpose, Values and Compass”, ending with a gala reception. Following the workshop, alumni enjoyed a reception where Embassy guests, including Mr. Ambassador Klimow and Mrs. Klimow and Cultural Affairs Officer, Nona Majidi, attended.
The Ambassador delivered an opening speech welcoming all alumni, followed by a speech from American Councils Country Director Carrie Miller.
Alumni had dinner together, listened to the songs of a popular singer live, danced, took thematic photos at the FLEX photo zone and networked before ending the evening with a symbolic FLEX cake.
They also had an opportunity to sign the FLEX program Appreciation post cards for their American host families. The reunion brought together almost 90 alumni of different years from all over the country, making it one of the largest reunions for the FLEX community in Turkmenistan.
